im Lich. who was a co-founder of elakiri.com which was started on 8th of april 2006. (please do ignore my english. i suck at it).
we had a group of people (3 friends). gtrz – Ranga Thenuwara, Lich – Pradeep , Chamith (elakiri owner). ranga is a friend of my brother and he used to come to my place to get songs from me. i have a number mp3 collection. so he normally pay a visit to my place to get songs and videos.
he asked me about this site and i loved to be a part and we started it. Chamith is the person who funded this website(thats how he told me).
so elakiri started growing.. we had so much of real time activities. i did the promotions and meeting artists and achieve a number of good comments from everyone.
following are my ideas which helped to make elakiri in top
i had done a sticker campaign for the promotions
i had request songs from every radio stations mentioning elakiri. basically i wanted to make it as a trademark. so everyone use it. which elakiri is a slang in sinhala.
i did a t-shirt campaign as well and sold nearly 30 to 50 t-shirts to members.
had done more than 10 events from elakiri and started to promote events online. as the online media partner.
im the one who invented exclusive videos to websites. which most websites using at the moment.
watermark which placed in the middle of a song.
those are some of the basic tips i used to promote elakiri
but can anyone believe i wasnt a administrator. Ranga never gave me administrator priveleges. he gave only moderator privileges which is only to delete a thread. but i didnt wanted that because i had a intension of making elakiri number one. and i know i achieved it in a quick time. after while i realised i spend so much of money for nothing. coz when ever i asked to give me the administrator privileges what ranga (gtrz) did was ignoring me and saying some excuse. this was went for 3 years. still he didnt wanted to give me admin rights.
so i decided to take a decision and i asked him or otherwise i told him i will leave the site.
im a student who is finishing my degree in apiit. and im having a really busy project life. so hectic work in apiit.. so i couldnt do much in elakiri for sometime. even though i uploaded songs and videos i couldnt b active in the forum. all the sri lankan artists contact me and give me videos coz they know what im capable of.
another unfortunate story is that ranga thenuwara used to come to my place. and i forgot that firfox is showing the passwords to anyone. if that person wants to see saved passwords its possible. i didnt know that stupid function in firefox and ranga got to know all my passwords. at that time i was the owner of elakiri youtube channel, elakiri facebook channel. but after a couple of days ranga (gtrz) has removed my email addresses from those and taken the full ownership without even telling me.
when i was going to upload a video to youtube i realised the password is wrong. and i asked gtrz about this but
this is what he said “ane manda machan i think someone has hacked ”
but at that time elakiri new video was uploaded then
i asked “then how come a new video was uploaded to the channel” then what
he said was ” hack karapu eka machan elakiri eke fan kenek wenna athi kiyala”
how stupid he is to tell such a idiotic thing. its a disgrace to a friendship even. i was so upset about it and i talked about this with my girl and decided to leave elakiri on October 4th 2009.
it was a heart breaking moment for me. i cried more than weeks about this. i still missed elakiri. i love it from bottom of my heart. i know what i did for make the site a better and to make it alive. i did so much of charity work which a site not even think of.
even some of the artists do call me and talk to me what and how to do the promotions and everything. its a great honor to help sri lankan artists to come up to the stage that can challenge a international artist.
after i left elakiri. when artists call me i used to tell the real reason and ask them not to leave elakiri or anything and asked them to give the videos to gtr(ranga). but every single artist told me to start my own website and they said they will give their content to me exclusively. it was a great feeling to hear such a thing. but i had no intension of fighting with elakiri. coz elakiri was my life.
when artists started shouting to gtrz (ranga thenuwara) he started spreading fake information and fake news about me. saying i took money from artists to put head banners. it was the second stupid thing which gtrz did. he said i took 30,000 from Daddy (gayan perera).
but the real story was gayan perera (daddy) took 1 lak from hutch for his video called SMS. me and him went to hutch and we did the proposal and talk to them. and got the deal. gayan asked me to promote it online (online is not elakiri) which is facebook , youtube and myspace. for that he gave me 30,000. i never had any intension of asking him money. he is the one who told me he will give that amount.
even when i heard that gtrz spreading fake information about this i talked with Gayan perera. and he said was “machan oya ranga kiyana eka p****, uta wushana kosha nathi k*** h****,nattam oya wage gon wada karaida. umbai mamai dannawa karapu dey, ona h****k ona ekak hita gattaden. api ape dey karamu” it was some relief for me coz end of the day i realised what he saying is true. i know what i did and so did gayan. thats what matters.
because of this no Daddy or Lahiru Perera videos coming to elakiri at the moment.
now i saw elakiri 3 or 4 times after i left elakiri on october. but gtrz has told others that i even use fake accounts to login and blah blah. sometimes i feel that he is such a kid which has a 0% brain. do i even care when i left to login and see. i do have loads of project works to finish in my degree.
i met a wonderful friends in my life when i was in the site. friends like Bathiya, Santhush , Randhir, Ashanthi, Umara, Sachith, and my best friends thusith, Ishan and Centigradz, and Arun ayya, Daddy, Doctor, Prathab, and lastly Pathum (Enz Records) as friends and supported me a lot.
i even met friends in elakiri like Novindu , Salini, Imesha, Panduka, and many more friends. its a great feeling to meet and have such friends.
im really sad to see what is happening to elakiri. when i meet a old member even in the road or in the bus. what he/she tells is they are no longer even visiting elakiri because it has become a pornographic website and no one even intersted about it anymore.
one more thing i forgot to tell. that im no longer working in any sri lankan website. but if i get any material from a aritst im sending it to every single website to promote it.
i wrote this blog with this post is just to tell how i feel elakiri and what i did for elakiri. not to insult anyone. but Ranga Thenuwara. do remember this there is someone called God. you have to pay for ur Karma. someday you will pay.
